Our View
It is important to understand the role Olympiads play in your child’s academic and overall development. There is already a flood of information on the internet regarding the various Olympiads being conducted, the multitude of benefits that Olympiads bring, and why your child should take these exams.
Over time, Olympiads have also become a much-hyped affair, a kind-of must-do battle for every child. This is where parents’ role is very critical and their understanding of the bigger picture to make better decisions for their child. At a high level, the importance of Olympiads can be summarized under two points:

These exams can boost the confidence of students and make them more determined towards their goals, helping them to strive better in pursuit of their dreams. At the same time, these exams can also make parents aware of their kid’s true potential. It is not just an exam, but an opportunity that opens-up endless doors to future possibilities.

Taking Olympiad exams at a young age inculcates the habit of taking challenges and competitions in a healthy way.
As parents, we should constantly ask ourselves:

With hundreds of Olympiads conducted throughout the year, and with plethora of pre-exams prep guides, test papers and online help, are we putting unnecessary pressure on our kids?

There is no doubt, that very high levels of commitment, hard work and problem-solving skills are required to stand out and leave a mark with their results. At same time, have we ever wondered what exactly happens around the results – focus shifts to the medals and certificates – is it School, National, International? Is it Gold, Silver, or Bronze?

With so many Olympiads on offer, and all the hype around them, it is easy to get carried away. However, as parents, it is important to be focused on the bigger picture - the purpose and end goals.

First, it is extremely important for parents to understand and use Olympiads to explore the potential of future possibilities, as well as encourage their kids to approach these exams in a healthy, non-stressful and enjoyable manner.

Next, we must make a mindset shift to focus on the experience, to learn from it and how to become stronger. It should be part of a standard development process, part of every-day life, and not a race for cracking a particular Olympiad.

Finally, the idea should be to constantly evaluate what can be done differently - how can children become better problem solvers to take on much bigger and tougher challenges, that lie ahead?
Our Approach
At Sparkyo, we look at Olympiads as Goal Post!!

At Sparkyo, Olympiads are a way of life, meant to test your abilities, mindset, and skillset, learn from it, and become stronger for future challenges.
It is a continuous process of keeping you out of comfort zone, but at the same time, ensuring you get the wings to enjoy the new challenges, the unknown...

Olympiads are a test of multiple life skills in every child (like time management, speed, composure, strategy, self-confidence, etc.). It is important that such life skills are imparted early-on to children, so that they can discover a meaningful purpose behind the learning.
​
At Sparkyo, at every step of the game (year-round preparations), our focus is on developing the appropriate life skills to handle real-life scenarios, and ensure every bit of the learning is an enjoyable experience.
India does not perform very well in the International Olympiad Exams. The reason behind it is that Indian students are talented but are less aware or exposed to the skills required to take up these challenges. Olympiad Exams not only tests the basic subjects taught in school; it challenges the analytical and reasoning abilities, problem-solving skills, and higher order thinking capabilities.
Sparkyo has set a well-curated, futuristic, differentiated, and well-proven learning platform over the last 5+ years.
With the basics done right, moving forward to score becomes easier for our students.

Our learning platform is:

focused from very young age on building a solid, strong foundation of subject concepts using effective teaching methods

focused on higher-order thinking (critical thinking and problem solving). Skills involving analysis, evaluation, and synthesis (creation of new knowledge) requires different learning and teaching methods.

built upon the idea of holistic learning and overall development of a child from early age.
Our Results
In 2021-22, out of 60 Olympiads attempted by our students (primarily SOF and Silverzone), our achievement score was 50% - 30 Medals (16 Gold, 3 Silver, 2 Bronze and 9 Medal of Distinction).
This includes achievements of International Rank 1 in IOS and International Rank 2 in IMO.

This year (2022-23), apart from the standard SOF and Silverzone Olympiads, we also focused on different kind of challenge – the AMO (American Mathematics Olympiads).
​
This year, out of 80 Olympiads attempted by our students, our achievement score is 42.5% - 34 Medals (23 Gold, 4 Silver, 4 Bronze, 2 Medal of Distinction and 1 AIR Rank 4 in Finance).
This includes 3 Bronze Medals in American Mathematics Olympiad in our 1st attempt.

Over the next few years, we would like to re-define the approach and use of Olympiads for overall 360° development – ranging from various Informatics Olympiads, different forms of Critical Thinking Olympiads and more International Competitions like SASMO, DOKA, AMO, Math Kangaroo, IPM etc.
